Bridges has been working in Rochdale for over ten years. During that time, over 200 'street people' have been contacted and helped by the project.

It all began over ten years ago when a group of volunteers from Rochdale churches started taking sandwiches and hot drinks to people congregating in Broadfield Park. Many of the people the volunteers met there were homeless and had serious problems with drugs and alcohol. It was obvious that these people needed more than tea and sandwiches.

In 1999, Bridges opened the doors of its first drop-in evening. Here, guests would be able to receive a nourishing hot meal as well as a short, focused Gospel message. Perhaps more importantly these sessions allowed volunteers to form stable and long-term relationships with people who desperately needed help. The charity was formed in 2003.

Since that time, Bridges has moved premises several times, expanding services to meet the needs of the clients. The project is still growing and developing, with big plans for the future. Find out more here.
